Don't let the snow and slush put a damper on your fabulous style! Here are some tips to help you find the right all-weather boots and take care of them for years to come.
We love offering brands that have done all the hard work for you when it comes to waterproof style. One of those brands is La Canadienne. This company brings high-end fashion and waterproof protection together, to simplify your wardrobe when the weather isn't wonderful. With over 70 years of shoe manufacturing experience, these are made in one of the last family-owned factories in Canada, in an eco-friendly environment and by craftspeople who know exactly what winter can do to your shoes and boots! From design, pattern making, cutting, stitching, lasting and finally packaging, La Canadienne has perfected the 200+ steps its takes to make a quality shoe with the style you deserve.
Another one of our favorite winter boot companies is Bos. & Co. If you are looking for a waterproof leather boot that has a unique look and impeccable style - this is your brand. With details like fringe, buckles, lacing and patent leather, your personal taste doesn't need to be put in the closet during the winter months! These boots can take you everywhere: the office, out to dinner and through the weekend.
Buying the right boots is only part of the process when taking the best care during the winter months. A good weather-proofing spray can really make all the difference and we prefer to use Cadillac All-Weather Shield since it is an all-season shoe care protection for leather, suede, nubuck, canvas, nylon and all fabrics. Not only does it help protect your shoes, but we highly recommend using it on your leather bags too! It is a non-silicone base so it’s safe for use on all colors, and will not darken, plus it allows leather to breathe. It's very important that Shield be used on clean and dry materials, and it is recommended that three light coats should be applied before exposure to the elements. Re-application is also imperative and should be done periodically but especially after your product has been through a heavy rain or snow - just make sure it is fully dry before applying. When in doubt, bring your item into your local shoe repair for specific advice and tips. We do sell Shield in our stores but we are unable to ship it.
